I have just picked up a 78 F-100 the guy that i bought it from said that it had a 302 in it. I don't think that this is true. I think that it is a 335 series. a 351m or 400. what is the most noticable diference between a 302 and 351m or 400?
uh, look on the valve cover...or on one of the edges of the heads, if its a 351M/400 itll have an M cast into the head or you can always post the VIN and someone will decipher it....check the door jamb for that...

Thanks for the good info, Torque1st. I was just looking at a '71 Mustang Mach 1 - all the numbers check out as a 4V-351C, but the owner says she had to replace a cracked block. Made me wonder if something else was put in the engine bay.
