Smile E40D Torque converter installation

I am installing rebuilt tranny in my 94 f150, How do I really make sure that the converter is all the way in? Thanks for any info.

As you install the converter on the input shaft, rotate the converter and push. When you hear/feel a click the converter will seat a little bit, do this again. I think it's 3 clicks. Now, with a straight edge across the face of the bell housing and the snout of the converter lined up the snout should not touch the straight edge. I think it is a little under 1/2" clearance, but the snout should definitely not touch. Hope this helps
