Idiot me thought I'd remember where everything went when I pulled my 390 for a rebuild. It's only been like 4 1/2 months now....LOL...and I can't remember how to put the motor supports on. The are labeled LH and RH....I'm sure for left hand and right hand. They are 2 bolt supports. I feel certain that the writing should be up when they are mounted to the engine...I just don't know which one to put on which side. The mounting stud is off center so they won't interchange. Anybody know which way they go?
Seems I recall they would be possitioned if sitting in the driver seat, IE left is driver and right is passenger. I also recal the stud being offset to the rear when mounted on the motor (so it places the engine forward), but then again I would need to venture to the garage to be 100%.
When I last put the motor back in, I did it with LH being the driver side and then "Top" is of course to the top of the engine. But, the engine would not go back in! It was just too far forward of the hole sin the engine perches. So, we swapped sides and the engine went in.
But, my truck is a mongrul 67 Body, 69 Chassis and mystery motor.
No, I haven't put it back in yet. I seem to have lost all motivation at the moment. After I finished the motor I tore down the C6 for rebuild. Somehow I lost one of the springs on the Low/Reverse Piston (there's 24 of them). I finally found it last weekend but it's been so hot here that I can't get motivated to go out and finish it. If I could just focus I could rebuild the trans in a day. I've cleaned, wire brushed, & sanded the engine compartment. I still have to paint that out. Then drop it all back in. Anybody want to visit Houston and help get this thing back together??? I'll supply all the beer and food from the grill....and we'd probably end up mostly drinking and not getting anything done...LOL.

Allright. Iv'e got cousins in Houston anyway :-)
I know how you feel about this heat. 100 degress and 60% humidity....Yeooouuuuch!
Sounds like we have a party...work should be done by 5:30...I'll have the beer chilled by 6:00...I'm thinking there won't be any work done again tonight...LOL.
Sounds like the makings of a great party. Almost makes me miss Houston. Almost.
I have a couple of pointers. First, if you need tranny parts for the C6, check out bulkpart.com. These guys are up in Big D and I was getting next day service from them when I lived in Houston. Their prices are good too.
Second, once you figure out which way your engine mounts go, leave them off until you have everything installed with the tranny bolted to the engine. Not having the mounting bolts hanging up on the perches really makes the alignment process easier. Once everything's set, it's relatively easy to attach the mounts and lower the motor.

Party on guys!
I really like that idea i am glad you posted that today. I am planning on trying to have my motor and new tranny put back in my truck today. If my ankle will let me. one cool thing out of it all the wife wants to help me and learn more about my motor. I was like what could you repeat that one more time. but she said she wanted to so i hope that maybe i can teach her something.
I've been getting parts at League City Transmission. I spent about $100 for the C6 rebuild kit and and shift kit. I've had good luck with them in the past although recently they aren't nearly as friendly for some reason. I'm going to check out this bulkpart.com site. I always like finding good sources for stuff!
Thanks for the engine mount info too. If I ever get to that point I'll take your advice.
