Aw heck, lets talk about that for a minute. Back in 1970, my folks bought a new Mercury Marquis. It was big, square, roomy, powerful, had tons of chrome, and was as handsome as all get out. It was also indestructable- or at least it seemed so. Sound like anything else we know?
We don't build cars like that anymore- we build rounded, fuel efficient transportation devices that all look alike. The manufacturers sent the chrome police out, and substituted matte black and body-colored bumpers that scuff and scratch with the slightest impact. And we, as buyers, stay away from these amorphous shapes in droves, and the manufacturers can't understand why.
I remember standing next to my wife's Suburban one evening and remarking "You know what, that thing's just a Kingswood Estate with four-wheel drive." I still think I was right- we never fell out of love with the traditional American car. Only thing is, it's a truck now.

As mentioned, the '06 does not currently have the big discounts. Only the '05 MY.

What do you think the rebates will be around january or february of next year? $10,000-$12,000?? more... less? Because if they give 12,000 off or more i think i will go with the 2006! Thats a lot of performance mods ....
