My ABS light is on steady and then 20 minutes later the brake light comes on and stays on. The manual says to take it to the dealer right away(of course).
Aybody have this issue? We just had it at the dealer and they put new rotors and pads on the escape (20,000 miles ago). Anybody have any ideas as to what this might be. We did purchase the Extended warranty which covers all sensors etx related to ABS braking system. also its a 2002 escape with 40,000 miles on it. thanks Jeff
We had the same problem with my wife's 2003 Escape last year. Apparently a wire connecting to an ABS sensor popped off, causing the lights in the dash to stay on. Brought it to the dealer, was fixed in about 1 hour. In our case, the dealer said it wasn't a safety issue, the wire would not have caused the brakes to fail. I wouldn't take any chances though....bring it in ASAP.
To add to Beast12's comment - on the early s, sometimes you have to put a little extra fluid - over the line. If the warranty covers the reservoir then make them replace it. I believe Ford was charging around $300 just for the part.
