Really? I took mine out, and shortly after, the computer shut down the driver side bank of cylinders. I talked to the local mechanic, an he said that there has to be some sort of chip in there to run. Either stock or modified. So this could be a different problem?

The mechanic must be a bit confused. There is no such thing as a stock chip in these trucks. If you removed the aftermarket chip, the truck will return to stock. Did you remove the fuse for the ECM or disconnect the battery cables before you pulled the chip? If not, that could be a problem as well. I would bet on a wiring harness problem. That's fairly common. Hope it helps.

I have replaced all the injector wire harnesses on that side. My question is, what goes in place of the aftermarket chip? There is a open area that is replaced with --- what???

Nothing, the ECM had a plastic plug to cover the hole from the factory but that's all. Maybe you have an IDM malfunctioning. Does it throw any codes?

nothing does, it is the programing port for the PCM. once the PCM is manufactured the factory loads the program into it via that port then they coat it with a sealer (which has to be removed when an after market chip is installed). there is NO factory chip

These codes do not point in any particular direction, from what the mechanis is telling me. He says that it is a wiring issue, and can take many hours to figure out. Any ideas or suggestions?

603 is Internal Control Module KAM error.
1280 is ICP circuit out of range low

Sounds to me like your ICP sensor is bad, or there is a short in the wiring to it or the injector harness. I'd start tracing wires back from each to the points of origin and inspect them thoroughly. Hope it helps.

0603 PCED Powertrain Control Module KAM error No historical faults output during a KOEO test Open PCM pin, disconnected B+, faulty PCM
1280* ICP ICP circuit out of range low Uses inferred ICP strategy Open/grounded circuit, biased sensor, PCM
for the 603 you probably got that from disconnecting batt's and the 1280 is your truck having a stumble? you can unplug the icp and try running it in default mode to see if truck runs better. you can pick one of those up on ebay cheap. it is on drivers side head all the way up front.

I agree whole-heartedly. I don't think I'd be using that mechanic. Just my 2 cents...
