I just recently acquired a 2000 Windstar. The power sliding door on the passenger side (the other sliding door isn't powered) is slow and doesn't always want to latch. It's like the motor isn't pushing/pulling it powerfully enough. Is there an easy fix, or is there a way to disengage it completely and not worry about it. I'd rather NOT have it be powered. The automatic door isn't as convenient as they make it out to be!
The power sliding doors on these are a real pain in the neck to fix.
If one door is power they both should be though. I wonder is someone already disabled the driver's door?
You might be able to just remove the cable that pushes and pulls the door and unplug the door module which is behind the inside quarter panel trim panel.
I'm not positive but I think that just pulling the fuse for the PSDs out from the fuse box under the dash should just disable the doors and nothing else. It should be the fuse that sticks out further than the rest.
I'll look into it about the fuse. I'm pretty sure on the Windstar SE, it came with the passenger side sliding door powered, and the drivers side sliding door had the option of being powered. This one is only powered on the right. You can open and close it manually, but it takes more effort and feels like you're overpowering something like the door motor. It works OK for now, I just want to be able to disengage it if it decides it's too tired to work anymore. I can't see spending any money to fix an option I don't really care for!
