so you want to spend $100+ to save a $60-80 cooler??
there should not be any trash in the system to begin w/.
why not put a filter before and after the coolers??
when a trans is rebuilt, you are supposed to flush the coolers and lines w/ a special aerosol can w/ flush in it.
Nope, I want to spend $38.94 (total including shipping from Summit) to save rebuilding the radiator cooler, replacing the factory cooler, and replacing my $60 Hyden cooler. If I thought it wouldn't restrict the pressure to much, I would install a Magnefine after the coolers. Flushing out the coolers won't remove the metal that may have lodged sideways in them and jar loose later.

w/ lines?? mine came w/ stainless. for flex and i also custom bent 3/8" steel to the filter housing. that is real cheap. some filters are $20. does it come w/ it??
man you are really hung up on this trash in the trans thing hugh?? as if it were normal to have metal in the fluid. good luck joe.
I found one. Summit Racing and JCWhitney both sell the kits to do this. The instructions on both units (I think they are both the same) are for pre-cooler installs. When I add a big magnet to the bottom of the filter I should be able to keep my coolers from trashing up if the transmission fails. Thanks everyone for your help.

so summit # G4980?? $28.69. good value but no bypass. i understand you do not want one either. but only rubber lines and barbs. you may have to mount that kit horizontal because the length of the barbs and this may kink the hoses if mounted verticle. i used steel to stailess flex for vibration and flex. all flared and teflon. no leaks works minty.

Yea, I haven't decided on using the rubber lines yet. I'll have to get it and figure out where to mount it and then I may use hard lines to it. Rubber on the pressure lines out sort of make me nervous.

but then again that is what then oem was for the cooler in front, there needs to be some flex though. that is why i still used the stailess braided instead of custom steel the whole way.
