hey all i have another problem with my full size bronco. It has a full injected 302 in it. here is the problem now! when it heats up it spudders and has no power and acts like it is out of gas. When it is cold it runs with power and is acts fine.this just started a week ago. I sure could use some help. thanks!!!
the temp gauge reads fine. i know for sure it is not overheating. Is the ignition modular the piece that is on the distributor? If so then I have replaced that about 6 times already. What would cause that?
I had a similiar problem with my 89 a while ago. The problem was that the distributor was way out of time. I stuck a timing light on it once it was warmed up, took the end plug out of the wires near the distributor (it shorts the two wires together), and checked the timing. It was almost 15 degrees out of wack - in the advance direction. I had to retard the timing 15 degrees so that it was in the right position. Keep in mind that once the engine warms up the computer automatically advances the timing - alot like the vacuum advance on the older vehicles, so when its cold its actually running at the postition reccomended for a warm engine, then once it warms up and the computer advances the timing, it is then firing too far in advance and it burns gas like crazy and has no power cause the burning of the fuel is actually slowing the piston on its way to TDC and the power stroke. Once I retarded the timing, it ran alot better but it ran great after I changed the fuel filter too! That's it for this novel....
Yes, the ignition module is attached to side of distributor. Most common symptom of a faulty module ... engine will stumble and stall when hot ... will not restart until it cools off ... 20 minutes or more. Have you tried pulling the diagnostic codes?
