I just picked up a 2005 Explorer EB with the Audiophile in dash 6 CD player.
The owner's manual states you can play mp3 and get the Sirius installation kit from the dealer. But that's it, no other documentation provided. It was a late night sale, so we didn't get the feature demo and discussion from the salesman
1) Anyone know if it's possible to play an MP3 player through the factory stereo, using the AUX input? Not burned on CDs.
2) Anyone buy the install kit from the dealer for Sirius? I can't find info on either of my questions on line other than to say MP3 and SAT capable.
thanks in advance and sorry if this is a duplicate post, I tried searching without any luck
I don't know about the MP3, but I did get the Sirius kit for my 04 Limited about 1 1/2 years ago and it works great. Ford told me what auto electronics store in my neighborhood to go to.
The tuner, the external antenna, and the wiring all come in one package that costs $275. They did remove the stereo to hardwire it, but it is well worth because you don't need any additional faceplate or anything. They put the tuner in the back inside the lift-up storage compartment.
Model Electronics in Rockland County, NY - a local place. My Ford dealer pointed me to them as they supposedly do all the stereo, auto alarm, etc work for the dealer in my area. I would just call your Ford dealer and ask where to get the part. Thats all I did.
