1998 Key Fob
I just bought my first explorer sport, 1998 4x4 and has keyless entry. The Keyless entry doesn't work, I have gone through the set up procedure and it still doesn't work, i've replaced the battery, no luck, now i'm wondering if the key fob is the right one or not. The part number is F8DB-15K601-AA. Any one that can provide me help with this would be great. I'm probably going to the ford dealership this week to see what they can tell me if anything, but I would like to know if someone else has had this problem and how they went about fixing it. Thanks and you'll probably be seeing me around here for a while since I just got the explorer yesterday

Do you know anyone else with one that works? If so, you could program your Explorer to that FOB and test it that way. Otherwise, check E-bay. There's a number of folks out there who sell these fobs. You'll also be able to tell which years are the same. I bought a couple of spares for my '03 and I remember that there were quite a few years that used the same fob (unfortunately it's been a while, and I don't remember the specific years).
