You should only have one wire on the back post of the solenoid. That wire goes to the starter small terminal.
The other wires you have on the rear terminal should be on the front terminal. One is glow plug power, one is alternator, the other is cab power.
With them on the rear terminal you would only get power to the cab and glow plugs while cranking the engine.
So I just replaced the ignition switch on the steering column, it was really sloppy.
Still no power at any position.
Dave, thanks for cuttin in.
I'm no rocket surgeon, but it sure don't seem like I moved anything from either selonoid terminal that wasn't attached to the battery cable(s)...hummmm.
Now, buy back post - you mean toward the rear of the truck right? In the USA?
on the solenoid you will have 2 battery cables, one from the battery on one stud the other goes the starter on the other stud.now you should have a bunch of wires with big loops on them, these go on the stud with the cable from the battery not with the cable that goes to the starter.then you have the little booted wire wich goes on the small stud.the battery cables that goes down to the starter is on the one stud on the solenoid by itself there should not be any other wires on the same stud with it.
Yes the rear of the truck.
Mine has all the wires on the front terminal closest to the battery.
This is one of the main battery power distribution points on these trucks.
The only wire on the rear terminal goes to the starter.
I am only talking about the two big terminals that are bolted on.
I wore a hole in my overalls scratchin my rear all day trying to figure this thing out. And after Dave's post last night, I wandered down to the garage in my PJs with schematics in hand and gosh darnit, I AM indeed the idiot my wife says I am.
(Sheepishly) I have to admit, I switched the 2 red wires to the selinoid when I swapped the battery cable out. Now we're good to go.
Thank you guys very, very huge!

Don't believe everything that your wife tells you.
It was a very honest mistake.
That is a very valuable part of learning something new.
I bet you will never forget where those wires go for the rest of your life.
So that was a lesson well learned.
And all in all the price was not to high.
