Are you talking about getting rid of the stock wheel with air bag in order to use a non-air bag aftermarket wheel? I wouldn't recommend it for many reasons, mostly safety, which should overrule vanity in this case.
If you need to simply replace the stock with OEM wheel due to some other form of damage, you'll need the proper tools and to disable the air bag system during swap over.

I changed my steering wheel on a 2002 Explorer 4-door, not sure if it's the same as the Sport Trac but should be similar. Here's the write-up:
