"06" F350, V10, SC, 4X4, Lariat, LB, SRW, 6 speed manual, with manual hubs. Wedgewood Blue with Medium Flint interior. Man, this thing is quiet. Killed it twice on the way home because It's hard to tell RPM's without looking at the tach.. Looking forward to this BSEG that I am hearing about.
Ed, You have to tell us a little more. That is a beautiful truck. My manual transfer case was a little stiff to shift at first but the new hubs are real slick to turn. Much smoother than the 04s. Your 06 makes mine feel like a year old all ready. You get to drive a new truck for 18 months. good deal. I hope that your truck is even better than you expected
and best of luck with it. By the way, what tires did you get? Take care, Wrench.
Congrats, I have virtually the same truck, what rear end gear did you end up getting? I know what you mean about stalling it out, I've got plenty of experience driving manual trannies, but with the radio up, I stalled it out several times right after I got it, its just so damn smooth and quiet. It seemed to me that the clutch was a bit grabby at first, but after some miles put on it, and a bit of towing it got alot better, it is now much easier to drive. Wait until the motor is broken in, you wont believe the newfound power around 2000 miles.

Ed
the bseg you had when you pulled out of the dealer with that wonderfull ride.
best of luck with it and many years of happyness.
these motors are unreal so smooth and no noise to listen to. a radio you can hear. we all could just keep going on about them.wait till fred jumps in .o-man
The tires I got are Continental All Terrain and the axle ratio I ordered is 4.30. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of pulling power. One of the places I go camping has a 10 mile hill and even though my trailer is not that heavy, my other truck is either screaming in second or lugging in third. Of course the overdrive helps there where I can split gears.
Now I have to figure how to match the new truck to the 5th wheel trailer. If I just change to the shorter spring blocks, it's not going to give me much room. It might be better to flip my trailer axles. ????????

Reason: The word ''tires" is trying to link. Not intended.
don't worry about the tire thing it's in the web sites soft ware. as you spend more time in here you will find lots of automatic links to automotive words .
best of luck with that new truck.
Ed, the tall Fords are a challange for some 5th wheels. I had to swap out the spacer blocks in my 00 F350 and also flip the axles on my 26 Kit Companion 5th wheel. You need a minimum of 6 inches between the truck box rails and the lowest part of the Fiver.
Even with six inches you can get in trouble if you are backing up a steep grade and putting your Fiver on a level spot. I damaged the back corners of my 81 F250 doing that years ago. We will be buying a new Fiver for my 05 F350 and I will be shopping for a taller 5th wheel this time around. I like my 4 inch spacer blocks and hope to keep them. Some makes of Fivers have adjustable axles and I am looking at those. Wrench.
Please don't get ticked off but I think if you go pull the window sticker you will see All Terrain spelled out and then you look at the Continental side walls you will see M&S stamped in (mud and snow). Most of us got the $250 for the upgrade option refunded for "optional equipment not delivered".
Deal with the 5er leveling at the trailer side of things and don't be too tempted to lower your rear end unless absolutely necessary.
Your warranty is valuable to you for the next 36 months and 36,000 miles don't go out of your way to give Ford an excuse to void it. Removing the blocks can alter the drive shaft angles, induce vibrations and blow seals in front of pinion and trany tail housing if not done right.
So many folks have "lifted" the trucks, added chips, modified the exhaust, and then broke something and tried to get Ford to fix for free. They are bleeding red ink so bad that they are very careful on drive train warranty issues these days and I can't blame them.
You're right, the tires do say M&S. Actually, the tread looks more like highway with wider gaps between the ribs. Not very agressive at all.
I think I will raise the trailer. The whole truck is tall and installing shorter blocks will make it look funny when hooked up to 5th wheeler. Plus, I still won't have enough clearance. When I asked about shorter blocks the salesman mentioned warranty. He was going to check with the owner, but I never got an answer. He suggested having blocks done some where else. I guess if Ford does it they have to warranty it.

Not necessarily. If they say that it won't void the warranty, well then you are fine, but a lot of dealers are willing to do a lot of things outside the relm of warrantable modifications.
