I have just finished building my 1994 f150 now I am having a problem feeding it .
I have a 347 stroker 9.2 to 1 aluminum heads 512 lift hyd. roller and a novi 200 supercharger edelbrock intake and plenum. my problem started when we went to start tuning it on the chassis dyno.I have 36lb injectors and when we get all of the fuel trims correct idle thru 4500 rpm it it starts going lean over 4500rpm ino matter how much we increase pulse width os I know I am running out of pump. my problem is that I have duel tanks so I need to find high flow & volume pumps that will fit in tank . also how much is the switching valve going to restrict the flow or am I going to be stuck cutting up both tanks putting fittings in and running external pumps. any info or advice will be much appreciated.
You and MustangGT221 both have the same problem. Maybe send him a PM and see if between the two of you, you can figure out how to fit a larger pump (i.e. a mustang pump) in the stock sending unit or how to modify it to get it to work.
Good luck Ralph, but unfortuanatly the Mustang pumps wont fit. Have you considered a in-line booster pump like the T-Rex? Your other option as you know is to sump the tanks and run a large in-line pump.
I'm running the original low-pressure pumps in each tank on my '87, along with a 255lph high-pressure pump on the frame rail. I use -8 feed line from the high-pressure pump to the engine, and -6 return line back to the switching valve. I haven't had any issues with fuel starvation. This is a 521 stroker with 42lb injectors.
Check out www.ronmorrisperformance.com. They have reasonably priced pumps and a lot of fittings to adapt the original nylon fuel hose to AN braided hose.
