Ford Vs. Cummins video

First time here. Not here to start trouble or start a flame war. I'm a Ford guy from way back, last Ford truck was a 99 Super Duty 7.3.

I have gone to the dark side (no, not GM) with my latest truck though. 2001.5 Dodge 2500 QC 5.9 Cummins.

Now before I get bashed let me fill you in on what happened.

I went looking for a SD last June. I knew what I wanted...4x4, super cab, short box, 7.3, A/T, XLT or Lariat, 50K miles or less and I had 22K to spend.
My job brings me to Ford dealers everyday, so I always had an eye out.
After about a month of searching I did find a few that fit the description but they were either real clean low mile trucks for 30K or beat to crap contractors trucks with all the miles and still wanting 30K.

Problem was I could not find the truck I wanted for the money I had.

Then while at a local Ford dealer, ready to leave dissappointed again, I spy the nose of the Dodge. Closer inspection revealed the Cummins name plate on the door, and closer still showed it was the Quad Cab, short box configuration that I desired.
Long story short, I bought it the next day. Couldn't be happier, 22mpg, very little done by way of mods and she dynoes at 325hp and 715 tq.

Anyway...I found this video over at http://www.turbodieselregister.com/ .(it's not me) Just thought I'd share.

a dodge schooling a powerstroke, imagine that!

right click on the above link and select "save target as" its only about a 5.77mb file so dialup users can watch the mayhem!

I hope thats not what you based your decision on.. many things go into the outcome of that.. tires, gears, weight, traction, etc.

Its a cool video though, thanks for sharing

I think they're both good trucks. Good choice...though I keep reading that dodge's A/T are crap, I dont believe it since we have two sitting outside with no problems.

btw, captain p4, I like your avatar

Heres a Ford guy with a Dodge posting a thread about his Dodge on a Ford site an says he loves it. Do I sense he misses his superduty. Ah maybe. Once a Ford guy always a Ford guy no matter what hes driving. JK man enjoy your Dodge. I have 7.3 myself an get 20 MPG. With these fuel prices the more the better. Welcome to FTE the best Ford site around. Well do our best to rid you off the Dodge an get you back in a Ford. Couldnt reisist. Warning dont post that thread over inthe 6.0 forum. Things could heat up real quick real fast. JK again.

Just do like I did, put a Cummins in a Ford, and you get the best of both worlds.

I did kinda look like everything went to shiite when that ford lost traction, though. I dont know if that was so much power as it was traction. He did get beat though, either way.

Here's the original post that went with the video thread. This was posted on TDR.

hello everyone iamb a new member here but i have been reading for a while and picked up alot of good info i have a story i thought you might enjoy. i have a friend with a 97 f350 4x4 power stroke back a couple months ago while hanging out in the garage he started talking some crap about how his f350 would drag my 2500 dodge around so a few beers later and there we were in his drive way hooking up. well i drug him right out of his driveway and into the road now here we are on memorial day partying at his house and he starts talking crap because now he has new tires and 18 sheets of obs board in his truck so we hook up again with the same results this time i toyed with him i would drag him 5ft stop than drag him some well after this one he got out of the truck and bowed down to the mighty cummins the only rule i had this time was i wanted it on video so i could share it with you guys
As far as mods on my Dodge...BHAF (big honkin air filter), turbo silencer ring MIA, wastegate is turnbuckled (32psi boost), FASS II, Edge Comp, 4" MBRP straight pipe, AutoMeter Ultralite gauges...Boost, Pyro, Fuel Press, Trans Temp, Diff Temp, Oil Press, Intake Air Temp, Mystery Switch (TC lock up)
Full DTT tranny is next...running on borrowed time now.

Talk about borrowed time, I've driven around 20k miles on a stock auto in a 97 Dodge with 370's, 4k gov springs, and a #0 fuel plate.
