I'm looking for a truck and have noticed that '70's models usually come in automatic or 4 x 4 sticks. There aren't many 2WD sticks. Is that normal, or is that just Seattle area? What are the problems associated with 4 x 4?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-17-03 AT 08:41 AM (EST)] If youve never owned 4x4 and dont need/desire to i wouldnt spend the extra money. Theres increased maintenance needed with a 4x4 thats 25-30 years old.
As far as the stick vs automatic it kinda depends on geographics. In and around the larger cities youll find few manuals. You get into the more rural areas youll find considerably more. Doesnt really matter whether were talking 2x4 or 4x4.
In these rigs both the auto and manual were good transmissions, very durable.
