I've been having a problem with the brake lights blowing fuses, now I know that in most cases it means you have a wire problem but I have looked at almost all of the wires for the brake lights and cant find anything,I also understand that looking isnt enough you need a volt meter but I dont have one at the moment.
My question is has anyone here ever had a brake light switch go bad and short inside itself and blow fuses, mine seems to have a dead spot in it,when you first step on the brakes you can see them go on then as your foot goes down they go off then when your foot is all the way down they are on again.
It seems to be in the same place every time. Now the odd part is when you replace the fuse you can stand on the brakes for ten min,and they work, you can
turn on running lights and blinkers and they still work.I sat there for 15 min,
with them on and they worked fine, five min, down the road and using them like normal and they blew the fuse.I'm going to replace the switch today but I'm curious if anyone has had this problem.
I had the same issue. Turns out the trailer harness plug was getting water in it and shorting out the fuses. Cut plug off and installed a new one and haven't blown a fuse in 2 Months.
