02 4.0L VIN E platinum or double platinum? which is OE?

I'm having some problems finding 100,000 mile tune-up parts for this 02 Explorer 4.0L SOHC VIN E. I haven't changed the fuel filter because the parts stores keep showing me the wrong one. However, I ordered the Motorcraft fuel filter that is stated in my 02 Owner's Manual that came with the truck new, it stated for the 4.0L SOHC V6 a FG-986B fuel filter. But I believe it's going to be the wrong one too, because it was only $9.00 at Advance. I'll find out tomorrow. How bad is that if the Ford owner's manual is wrong. Main concern is the plugs and wires. Do I need regular Platinum or Double Platinum plugs? Some parts websites say Platinum is OE and some people say you should have Double Platinum because of the two Ps in the original Ford part number. Which one is correct? Wires, Do I need to replace them, if I don't break them? I've looked at all the parts websites and local parts stores, and besides paying $70-$80 which I can't afford, for the Motorcraft wires, all I see is crappy aftermarket wires, nothing that I recognize as good enough for this new of a vehicle. The wires always separate from the boot when I pull them out, no matter what kind of wire I try. So if I don't break them, should I just put new plugs in? Thanks for any help.

Becaue of the 100,000 mile tune-up sales pitch they come out of the factory with double platnum plugs. How many miles do you have on the original plugs? If you need to change them I would put the double p's back in. I wouldn't use the cheap wires either. Good luck.

Use Belden replacement wires (NAPA auto parts). Just as good if not better than OEM and very reasonable.

Ask the dealer for proper fuel filter part number and cross reference.

Did you really go 100K before plugs and fuel filter?

How does it run?

I have an 04 4.0L and the interval is not 100K!

Thanks.

The correct Motorcraft part# for the 2002 V6 SOHC VIN-E fuel filter is FG-1036.
