there is a vibration in my 70 f-100 that is coming from my drive train. i replaced the u-joints and replaced the drag links and all the other stuff. other than maybe a out of balance tire what else could it be? my bearings seem to be in good condition also. the vibration is not continuos but more like a surging.
The surge you feel can be the between the difference between driveline out of balance and wheels when they get into their unbalance cycle zone. A motor out of balance with torque converter slip will get you these cycle zones as well different tire diameters when thet get into this imbalance zone. Sounds stupid but Been there. Comes in cycles every 4-5 seconds around 65 mph.

When you do take a drive line apart (long bed) make sure you line-up the drive shaft(s) the way they were before or you will get a new continues vibration that will add to the one you had before you changed the u-joints. In other words, make sure the male-female splines go back into the grooves they came out of. I had that problem and had to re-aline the u-joints so they were back to their original 90 degree angle to each other (it's been years but I think I got that right). My manual (Ford Trucks 1965-1980, Chiltons) gave me that answer when I had that problem. The problem you describe (if this vibration started before you pulled the line apart) sound's a lot like a bad center yoke bearing. Is the center yoke bearing retainer bolted tightly to the frame? When they loosen they can vibrate. Dosen't sound like tires or wheel bearings, but....
Rover's with all wheel drive have the front driveshaft 30 degrees out of sync on the yokes. Tried to correct but found the factory setting even wrong with common sense worked best with vibration.

The simplist thing to try first is where the ds connects to the rear. Make sure the U joint is equally spaced in the yoke should it be a difference in fit. I have had one that I had to put a dime on the end of the bearing to center it up.
That and rotating the ds 180º is something that you can do that wont cost money, and can play a big part.
Make sure all the bolts that connect the engine/transmission/transfer case are there and are tight. Some can only be accessed (at least on the 4x4) from inside the cab.
Take off the driveshaft and see if you have much play in the pinion on the axle.
re:surging
One of my vibration problems (around 45 mph) on my truck was bad ignition. The only way I solved it was going to the large cap and adapter with 8 mm. wires. I still use points.
