I need to know where my coolant temperature sending unit is. The motor is a 1988 300-6. I Beleive i found it and it's on the fitting going to my heater hoses on top of my water pump but, i'm not sure if that's it and i can't find it in my hanes manual.
I also need to know where to locate a oil pressure port on my motor for my oil pressure gauge.
Plz help me quickly because, nothing is working as i wanted today and i need to get something done!!!!!!!!!
Well it seems like it's not going to be a good day again...... Yesterday i put my moms car in a ditch and bent her rim and front sway bar. Today i still can't get my 02 sensor out so i'll have to wait for dad to get home and see if he can't brake it loose. if not i'll make a new 02 bunge and cut the old out altogether. I'll be needing the t fitting for my water temp gauge it seems. i'm off to go back outside and see if i can find the oil pressure port you kindly got a pic of. T/y again for the prompt response. I suppose if i can't get the oil pressure thing to work i can always install my new ignition switch and pull the wheels off and check my spring hanger brackets to make sure they are still tight (rather new rearend is on it). plug i have to put a new rear brake drum hardware kit on the driver side rear wheel still. O well i'm sure i can get something done t/y agian.
Ya i hear you. I bought new wheel cylinders yesterday i'm going to put them on today.
Try running the motor for a couple of min. it might heat the manifold enough to help you get that O2 sensor out. I suggest wearing gloves afterwords. Don't ask me how i found out about that.
Well we took a torch and heated the 02 bunge for about 10 mins then it came out without to much trouble! With the new 02 sensor in, it runs so so much better now.
I have my water temperature gauge working and the truck stays at a fairly consistant 195 it didn't look like it ever rose over 200 and it's about 85-90 degrees outside right now. So i think i'm going to go beat the snot out of it and see if i can get it to warm up!
The unit on the heater hose gooseneck is a temperature sensor, but it may not the one that should feed your dash guage. That unit on the gooseneck is the ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor that is a part of the EGR system.
I’m not too familiar with the wiring on your ’88, but on my ’84 the temperature sensor for the dash temperature gauge is on the right hand side of the engine at the rear of the block. It’s kind of hard to see. It is to the rear of and a little below the intake manifold right up next to the firewall. It has one wire going to it.
i,ll go check in to it t/y for the explanation. If i do find it back there is there any reason why i shouldn't leave it at the front if it's working correctly (the gauge itself i mean).
the temp gauge sending unit is on the right side of the head all the way to the rear under the intake, gotta just feel it. the one on the water neck isn't for the gauge
