I'm looking at buying a '94 1/2 Ton Styleside Supercab Special but I can't find the specs on it. The only thing I know is it is a 6 cylinder engine. I assume it is the 4.8 inline six because of the year. Vehicle is in another state and owner inherited it so doesn't know much about it. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the "newer" fords. Only Drove 1970's and 1980's ford vehicles before. I'm looking at buying this to tow up to 4000lb trailer. What I am looking for help with is to learn as many manufacturer specs as possible. Any info will help. So does anyone know -
Engine Horsepower
Engine Torque Towing Capacities - (axle options and standards on this vehicle model)
Gas Mileage can expect
Maximum Payload
Maximum Towing Capacity
EFI or Carb
Any other specs you know.
I was also wondering if these transmissions can be trusted for towing and if engine power is enough. It's an Automatic. I read that the transmissions for this year were weak. Any experience or knowledge about this. Also if you have owned one or similiar to this year would like to know maintenance requirements and your ownership experience.
the motors horse power is about 150 hp (give or take 10) the torque is 270 ft lb (give or take 10). The motor itself would be efi of course. The automatics they put behind the inline 6's in the early 90's were prone to malfunction (od would usually go out first). So if you planned on towing big loads with it i definetly wouldn't tow in od. As for max tow weight from factory it was probably about 4,000lbs. That's just a guess though but, with a good transmission and strong running gears you would be fine pull 5,000 or more.
