i just installed new brake pads on my '99 ford ranger 4.0L 4x4. now the braking system seems soft and faids as the brakes are depressed cuasing a dangerouse situation. I have replaced the brake fluid by siphoning out the old fluid through the fluid cylinder and have greased the pins and slides as directed. this made some difference but it is still not as the brakes used to be. any remedy for this problem?
you mean you siphoned the fluid out of the master cylinder? if so, there is the problem. you are suppose to use the bleeder valves on the calipers and rear wheel cylinders to change the fluid while ensuring that the master cylinder reservoir never goes dry. you now have air in the brake lines.
