I have an 89 Bronco with a C6 tranny and have a problem. If I start off in with the selector in the D position it will start in first but will not shift out of first untill I put the gearselector in 2. If I put it back in D before about 50mph it acts like it is in neutral. After 50 it will shift into third. Then the tranny will work normally again untill I come to a complete stop at which point I have to manually go through the gears again.
The tranny has 144,000 miles on it fluid is full, any suggestions for a quick and easy fix or is it rebuild time.
Thanx
Pull the hose off the modulator and check for vacuum.
If non is present that's your problem.
Also watch for fluid leaking out of the valve when the hose is pulled off. There shouldn't be any.
