Oil Cooler? Replacing timing cover gasket!

I've got a '92 F-350, 7.5, 4 x 4 and it's time for a water pump replacement. While I am at it I thought I'd replace the timing cover gasket and chain. But, it appears that blocking the removal of the timing cover is a "box" that looks like an oil cooler. The bottom hose from the radiator goes into it and and from it an outlet to the water pump. The oil filter sticks out the front of it so I am assuming it is an oil cooler. Problem is: how do I remove it. It does say Ford on the box so I think it is OEM. I can't see any bolts attaching it to the frame but it sure looks like it would block removal of the timing cover. I can't find any reference to it in my Chiltons manual.
Do I have to remove it and if so how?
Thanks for your help!

It is part of the oil cooler. I may be wrong, but I think there were 6 bolts that held it in place. From the oil filter adapter (where it screws on). I will check but I am almost sure there were 6 bolts. This was on my old F350, haven't had an issue witht he F250.
