stop/go driving.

I do a lot of stop and go driving (city) in my 89 F-150,AOD,4x4. I have been told that using the a/c in stop and go driving is very hard on the ac and the motor, is this correct? What kind of preventative maintainence, besides earlier oil changes, and transmission flushes help. I usually drive about 300 miles in city driving a week. My truck so far has about 118,000 miles...

stop/go driving.

The only strain on an A/C comp. is when the "head" pressure rises to the danger zone because of excessive under hood heat build up. So,you should assure your cooling system is up to par! Clean the outside of both the radiator and condensor free of bugs and debris.Staighten out any fins that are bent badly.Next check the fan clutch operation and change your coolant.

I replaced my upper/lower hoses, thermostat, flushed the system, and etc. How do you check the clutch I know that the clutch is ok because when teh guage gets warmer the fan makes more noise. Any suggestions?
