Resetting the Computer

To reset the computer, do I disconnect the positive terminal or both on the batteries for 2 hours?

I don't think you have to do it for 2 hours. I would unhook them and then turn on the headlights to drain everything for approx 10 min. That is the way I did mine and it worked.

Hit the nail on the head! Turning the lights on drains any residual power left in any of the electronics. Undue both of the negative and positive cables cables before doing so, and 10-15 minutes should be more than enough. While you have the cables loose, it's a good time to clean and grease the terminals and connectrors.
