I wish i could PURCHASE DARN NEAR EVERYTHING in the "SNAP-ON" tool catalog !!!! Your opinions on "CRAFTSMAN TOOLS, MAC, MATCO" etc. How about it ??? Do you think there "REALLY IS A BEST OUT THERE" ??? Post here.
I've had good luck with Craftsman, NAPA tools. At least there is a Sears near enough if I need to replace. I've used and own Snapon (too spendy and never a truck around when I want a replacement) Matco (a little cheaper and you still need to find a rep). Me I'd opt for Sears for most of my hand tools for the conveniece.
NAPA wrenchs aren't to bad. But their screwdrivers sometimes that blade twists in the handle. I notice that their ratchets have slightly to long of a direction change lever. Makes it tough when you're really going after it to keep the thing from changing gears. Around here I have Ace Hardware also so I have picked up some low end wrenchs. So far so good and if I break it I'm not out much. But for something quality I get Sears so I can exchange it if it breaks.
I like mt Craftsman junk. The one thing I REALLY like from Snap-on is their ratchets. They are 10X smoother than Craftsman ratchets which keeps it from turning the bolt back the other way once you get close to having it out, or if you're just starting a bolt. When I think about it I'll pick up a few. Otherwise most everything else is Craftsman.
VERY GOOD POINT !!! The darn truck is NEVER around when you need it !!! What do you think of the quality between the "SAID" names ???
I have heard many people complain about the truck never being around. Well if I really need something I can usually call my Snap On rep up and he is there fairly quickly. I have only busted one Snap On tool and that was a prybar and I was abusing it. There are some many things I have bought in Mac and S&K and been around Craftsman that they are not nearly the same quailty. I started wrenching with S&K and they are nice for farmers, weekend mechanics and probably auto mechanics but very few brands hold up to heavy construction equipment. And granted everything has a lifetime warranty but that does me no good when I am in the middle of nowhere trying to work.
