Cool Help me get it started

I have a 60 with 223. It has been sitting a while and we tried to start it the other day. Well, no big surprise the battery is dead, so jump start. No fire, replaced points and condenser, still no fire(at plug). I have voltage in and out of coil and ballast resistor but no spark at the plug. I'll replace the cap & rotor but anyideas are welcome.

Did you check the plugs themselves? Sometimes the spark plugs will die after they sit for awhile.

You say you have voltage at the positve and negative sides of the coil as well as though the ballast resistor; sounds like the primary side of the ignition circuit is working. Have you taken the coil wire leading to the cnter post of the distriutor to see if it sparks when placed close to ground? If you have no spark the soundary windings in the coil are bad. If you have spark then check the rotor and cap as well as the plug wires. By the way, what was the voltage reading after the ballast resistor? It should have been around eight volts. If you read too high a voltage it will have a tendency to burn the points. Good luck.

Are the points set right? I know it sounds like a dumb question, but it can make a world of difference.

Voltage after ballast was 12.3v. I set the points at .025 and I haven't replaced the plugs yet but thanks for pointing it out. It gives me a charge to see the spark of interest this has ignited.
