? 87 F350 taillights ?
Headlights work. Front parking and cab markers work. Rear signals, brake and flasher work, but no taillights?
Is there some point where the taillights separate from the other running lights? Does Anyone have a better description of the fuses than the fusebox cover?
I just bought this truck, found out on the first night drive carrying home a black flatbed that the taillights are out. I have to find a fix for the lights before I mount the bed.
Any helpful response would be most appreciated.

Re; ? 87 F350 lights ?
That's a good question. I'll have to check on that. From memory the whole back of the truck was dark at night but I was pretty p****d off so I might have overlooked it. My headlight switch has a brown wire in pretty bad shape. Most of the wire is broken and the terminal has been pretty hot. I'm using a wiring diagram off of autozone. It shows the brown wire extending to all of the running lights. You were definitely right about that. Would you happen to know if there is a tiepoint for these? I should check on the license plate first but I'm making a list of where to check after that.
Thanks PacersDad

I am not sure where the brown wire splits up front. But if the license plate lights work, then you know the brown wire to the rear works, since it splits in the rear and feeds both the rear taillights and the plate lights.
Some of the heavier trucks(sounds like yours) had a relay that ran some of the marker lamps too. But I looked at a diagram, and it fed the front and rear little side marker lamps, so if you had one that should not be the problem. It looks like even a truck with the relay, still fed the rear main taillights directly with the headlight switch.

Yeah, your right. Not sure where the brown ties together. It does lead into the engine compartment, thru connectors and down along the frame rail in a plastic loom. I pulled the connectors to isolate and pulled the wires out of the loom. I found two "trailer splices" in the loom under the cab. Apparently, the previous owner tried to make a repair, possibly to a broken wire on the electronic brake controller. Unable to match the guage and color, they chose the closest available and used two splices. Possibly to minimize the sparking when they created about a 10 foot heater loop and fried the wiring harness under the cab.
Farely straightforward. I rebuilt the wiring harness but I'm checking out the cost of a replacement online tonite. Right now I have 2' of color coded feeding into the wireloom, which covers every wire being red primary, and the last 3' is still ok and color-coded. I have separated the electric brake, one wire, to replace tomorrow.
Many thanks for your help Franklin2, Dave, I should be back into the bed mounting business tomorrow afternoon.
