Welcome n00b!

Let me try to figure out what your asking here. I'm not real good yet with working on these trucks myself, so anyone who chimes in, correct my advice if I'm sending this guy in the wrong direction.

You say you had the front tank replaced -- why was the tank replaced? Do you mean the front fuel lift pump?

Your saying even after a new "tank" it didn't work and sucked fuel from the rear tank when switch on the front tank?

It ran off the back tank for a while and it stopped working, so then you had it replaced, and now it still doesn't work? What exactly was replaced?

I'm confused here... your saying you had both the front and rear tanks replaced, but the actual tanks only hold fuel, not send/receive, or pressurize it. Now if the tanks had leaks, or rusted out holes, I can see why they were replaced.

All I can make of what you wrote is the front and rear tanks were replaced and after they were replaced your rear pump does not work, (you can't hear it) and the truck won't run as a result. The front never worked properly from what I get from your post and it sucks fuel out of the rear tank?

First, I would check the ground wire on the rear tank, and the harness in general to make sure it's connected properly. Then I would check the wiring from the tanks all the way to the tank selector switch in the dash, and the fuel inertia shut-off box. Check that valve that shuts the tanks on and off (front to rear) mounted on the frame rail to make sure it works (have to read the Haynes manual to see how to check/test that) because I think this is why your front tanks sucks fuel from the rear..

Do the fuel gauges work, do you get any fuel pressure when switched on the front, or rear tanks? Have you scanned for codes?

Hope this helps some.
John
