Dang Wipers Keep Coming On!

I am driving my Father-In-Law's 1999 F150 this summer. Every once in awhile the dang windshield wipers just come on for one swipe. This usually happens when I take a turn but sometimes it just happens. I would love to give him back his truck with this fixed. Someone want to give a clue what this might be? Oh and the truck is having problems with the mechanism that moves the windows up and down and the electric locks do not work. How to fix these?

I don't have my diagrams with me, but if the Gem module is tied into the wipers, it may be the problem. I am pretty sure the electric windows and door locks are tied into the GEM.

This is an electronic module that has all sorts of timing controls for the accessories in the truck. And your truck also may be in the year or two where they had windshield leak problems. The water would run down and ruin the connections at the GEM module, and also sometimes the fuse box. This is all mounted on the firewall under the dash.

My dad's 99 F150 has the same problem. Check out this thread I made: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=375284 I haven't looked at it so I can't tell you that it is 100% the problem.

Yes - wipers, windows & door locks all connect to the GEM on the 99.

My dad took the truck in the other day (he didn' tell me first) and they replaced the multi-function switch. Problem gone.
