I've got Yokohama Geolandar AT +II tires on the back of mine and they do great on turf and in the mud without being noisy on the road. The Dunlop All Terrain's are good too (have them on the front), but they are not as agressive as the Geolandars. They're not as tall either, though both are 285/75-16. That's just my 2 cents. Probably 75% of the trucks I see with AT's are Goodrich AT's, and I'm sure they're a good tire. I'm not a sheeple kind of guy and wanted something different.
Toyo A/T's or M/T's, both are great tires. I just put a set of 355/70-17 A/T's on my truck and love them, very nice ride. My parents have the M/T's on their vehicle and it rides very nice for as aggressive as the tread looks. Probably won't get as much mileage as the A/T's though.
I just tried the new GY Wranglers w/Silent Armor--About 1000 miles on them, and so far VERY IMPRESSED. The ride is sooooooo nice compared to the Rugged Trails, and the road noise is minimal. Good in the rain, too, but haven't put them through much off-road testing yet. I got the same size, Robert, the 285's.
Robert,
Seeing that you're from SC, that means RAIN! I also have the Bridgestone Revo's (285/75X16) and I can't say enough good things about them. They have an aggressive tread design, they look beefy and the handling in water, mud, etc is tremendous! Quiet on the roads and the wear is excellent. Got mine at CostCo for $153/tire installed.
I have had a Ford pickup since 1979.....have tried EVERY tire make and size....I own an 03 F250 crew 4x4 6.0....I would not put anything other than BF Goodrich AT's on my trucks....I run the 265/85/16's for fuel economy....run this mostly on the highway...but can assure you that there is NO better rain tire or mudder for very limited off road use....I can get 50k easy with correct rotation and keeping the psi around 50 when not towing....wear rating and load capacity are outstanding
ok gang. please check out our sponsers list. www.tirerack.com is one and can give you lots of good advise and information of how poeple feel about a brand and name of a tire
In the winter I run Avon SXT MudTerrains- Mine are studded & siped although I probably won't have the next set studded. Great looking tire with exceptional traction and not that loud on the freeway.
I also ran Revo 285-75-16. Good looking tire wears great but I found that they ride rough. Plus one of mine was a bitc# to balance. Not sure if I was having tead separtion problems or not. I did have that problem with some Revo I had on a Dodge.
