Put the pin in the hood not on the fender. So that the second the hood is popped up the alarm gose off thats how mine is set up. Then place the horn on the core support next to the radio. That way it is so loud they can't take the intense sound and they leave it alone. You're welcome for the help.
I hate creeps that want to take what I have instead of getting there own stuff.
Send me a message if you have any questions I install alarms and custom stereos for a living.

A simple fix is to drill a 3/8" hole in the secondary latch just about the center of the hook. Install a master lock and it won't open. This is easy on a 65 with big square holes in grille.
It worked so well on mine when the blowtie hit me from the side the lock kept the hood from popping open.
I too hate people who can't buy there own toys and steal other peoples stuff they should be strung from the highest tree.

I have actually seen the Master lock and it works great... on a '65
on my '63 where i've thought about doing it, it looks like it would be quite hard to fit your hand in there to unlock it... so I have been considering raiding the hood latch off an '86 in a local yard and trying to make it fit, using one of the unused holes on my dash for the latch maybe by using a throttle cable setup.
I am scared of the way those hoods flop around on thse old trucks, I've been in a '53 that the hood took off on the highway, literally flew over the cab!!
I might drill the hole as described and put a pin through the safety, like they used to use on muscle car hood pins... you know the one that looks like a big cotter key, just to stop the hood from flying up.

RF, Make sure the secondary latch is straight and working properly, it will prevent it from launching. Mine has come unlached many times over 30 years, but was always caught on the secondary. I have worked on it and it hasn't come unlached it a while now, clicks closed like a new one now.
