So I went ahead and bought a reman motor from Hesco.
With the new motor I am trying to get the best fuel milage out of it as possible. I understand that my best bet is to change gears, but I love how snappy it is on the bottom end. My plans are to get a flex a lite e-fan, edelbrock efi intake, bassani equal length ceramic coated, and the y-pipe as well. I already have a set of cat back dual 3".
Is there another sure fire way to increase mpg besides keeping my foot out of it? Any help is much apreciated. Thanks
I was going to suggest the mods you already mentioned,Ha..If you want a cheap gear change just put on tires a couple inchs taller,it will bring the ratio closer to 3:73..
If you install a vacuum guage, you can watch the reading on the guage as you drive. The closer you keep the guage to max vacuum all the time, the more efficient the engine will be. Thus resulting in higher fuel economy.
munrow, there is another use for a vacumn gauge. Use the accellerator and try and see if you can keep it as close to 0 as possible. Then you know you are getting the max abuse possible on that engine and all the performance she can give you.
Alright now, that sounds more like something I can use, ha-ha-ha.
Serously, though, I really do want to drive more... maturely, but its still difficult to not take advantage of the little bit of pep my crappy rebuild has.
Thanks for your reply Ronclark. I needed it,
Munrow
