I've got a 91 F150, 300/6, 4X2 with an E4OD tranny. It's been exhibiting "normal" E4OD characteristics like some hard shifts and some soft shifts with some slippage on some of the softies. Has anyone gotten one of these things to shift consistently whether hard or soft?
I was surfing today and found that the Throttle Position Sensor or a bad MLP sensor could be the cause of the hard shifts. Where are these located? How much do they cost to replace and has anyone done this and gotten rid of the real hard shifts?
I also found the AutoTrans site and saw a couple of products they offer to get rid of these bad shifts and prolong the life of the tranny. They've got an ePak Solenoid pak (E36949) and an E4OD Coast Clutch Controller (CCC-36A). Has anyone installed either of these or something similar? Does it help?
I have been using a "Banks Trans Comander" since my tranny modification and rebuild. It cost about $250. The shifts are very crisp,(much like a high stall torque Converter). But they are very consistant.

I, too run the Banks TransCommand on my F53 Motorhome that weights 16K lbs ready for the road. It has improved the shift considerably. Do not think it will help a sick tranny but it helps the shift of a good one. Probably put off early failure. FWIW, ray
Do you have to rebuild the tranny to use the Banks Transcommand? If not, what are the disadvantages to installing without a rebuild and is this something I can do myself? Where did you purchase the setup?
There was a post to the active forum on 08/16/99 about a company that provides similar inhancements. I am satisfied with Banks but would check them all out before purchase. Good luck
