I have a 2001 F150 Supercrew. While i stopped at a gas station it seemed well enough. Then, as i was starting the ignition to leave there was a click right before it turned over. All power died at that point. There is a relay located in the fuse panel (battery saver relay) that is clicking like crazy and is hot to the touch. I tried removing it and putting it back in. After several attempts at this ....the most i was able to achieve was to get the power back on for a sec or so.....and then it would die again. I found a similar story in another online article which leads me to believe this is not an isolated incident. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My '02 S'crew's battery died last week with very little warning. It didn't make any "click" other than what you would expect from a low battery. It is already getting "HOT" here in the Hill Country and that is hard on batteries. Mine lasted for 87000 miles, so I guess it was due. Good luck on your's!
I would think the battery life would be based on age rather than mileage. Most of them come with 5 year warranties. But hey, if it went out, so be it.
VDM1245 - welcome to FTE. How did you get out of the gas station? Obviously you made it to a computer. I'm not familiar with a battery saver relay. Can you check the voltage from the battery to see how close it is to 12 volts?
Batteries can die at any time, regardless of age or mileage.
In this case, it would be best to first check the integrity of the battery and the primary battery cables and connections. I would be most suspicious of the negative cable.
If it was raining or you had just washed the truck, I might be suspicious of water leaking into the GEM module due to a windshield leak. However, since you indicated that ALL power was lost, I will accept that as fact and point you back to the primary battery cables.
