thanks SSgt D
I've got about 38K on the set I got from Les Schwab and still have about 15K worth of tire left. JMO... buy two sets and ship the extra set w/the truck if you can. When I went over in 82, I had engine parts for the Mustang in the trunk.... I was able to get tires on the local economy... you probably could do the same and save the US tires you have on now until the swap to ship it back. JMO
If you have a Sam's membership, I reccomend that you take a look online at the vast amount of tires you can get for your truck (all name brands), and all of them have some sweet prices.
If you don't have a membership, the amount of money you'll save in services and tires will pay for itself 4x over.
If you are looking for a good and inexpensive Highway tire, I reccomend the BFG Commercial T/A at Sam's club. 50,000 mile warranty, and will cost you about $450 with all services including roadhazard and free R+B's for a 235/85R16E.
Super...do you happen to know the difference between that tire and the BFG T/A KO's? I bought a set of those and it cost me about $400 more than the ones you're mentioning from Sam's Club.
The comercial TA is stictly a highway tire with Highway tread, while the BFG A/T is a off road tire (all terrain) with much larger lugs, and a much higher rolling resistance.
The 285/75R16D's BFG A/T's that I bought from Sam's about a year ago cost me ~$700 and that included ALL services. The price of the tire was $165 plus $9.00 a tire for the service pkg..
The only reason I have a Sam's card is because I can get some super duper deals on quality (for the most part) automotive items. I buy all my batteries (Exide Group 65's at $50 a bat compared to $65 at Walmart), Oil (Delo 400 for $36 for 6 gallons, Rotella is similar in price), and tires there.
Every thing else is simply icing on the cake. With a membership at only $35 per year, I easily make it up in savings.
