dually conversion

i am going to get into the car hauling business in a couple months and i have a few questions:

what is the suspension difference between an F-250 and an F-350?
has anyone out there converted their SRW to a DRW?
how hard was this?
where can i find the best and cheepest conversion kit?
should i keep my current truck (check signature) or try to find another one?

thanks in advance.

Sean......I've got a friend that's been in the bodyshop business for a long time.
Some of that time was at Ford dealerships. He tells me that as far as he can tell, the only difference between the F250 & F350 is an extra leaf in the springs.
As far as a conversion......probably your best bet would be to find a F350 dually that's been hit in the front, and take the rear end, springs, bed, and driveline to do it. Hope this helps.

I think that you will run into problems with registration and payload numbers as a whole.

Despite what you may change, It would only take one cop or one trip to the scale to cause some very serious fines on the simple fact that your truck was built as a F250 from the factory. They'll look at specs for a F250, and they'll tell you're over loaded and stick the fines to you regardless of what changes you've made.

If you are have comercial plates and have weigh over 8000lbs you have to stop at the scales in South Dakota just like any other OTR trucker.

IMO, you'll be much better off trading off the truck you have for the truck you really need. You could even sell your truck outright (best), diesel trucks are always in demand, and you shouldn't have any trouble unloading it.

If you keep your eyes peeled, you may find the type of truck that is a turn key outfit with a flat bed and a chain box already on it.

Getting nailed with the fines makes getting a different truck look cheap in comparison.

I agree. I told you what I thought the differences are.....but this man just told you what the problems are.
I converted an 83 F250 SRW to a dually many moons ago. When I went to get it registered, I told the lady that I had turned it into a F350 by adding the duals etc. She told me that it didn't matter.....weight capacity that is on the original title, is the capacity that will be registered. And after I did all that work too.
If your serious about this hauling.......I'd also suggest that you should get the proper equipment.

Take care.
