Bumpzter,
How hard was it to use the 3M invisible tape? I've seen it advertised, but they said it is best to have a professional install it. Where did you get it?
Thanks for all the information. I hope to do some rock deflection as well. The Explorer is a pebble magnet. If all goes well I will also put one on the F350. It don't have any chips yet (knock on wood) but I guess because the pickup sits so high rocks have a harder time gaining altitude.
Jharger, I have such a chatter/skipping from the left wiper I would empty the reservior before cleaning any bugs off. I keep glass wipes with me, wash it when I get home or hope for rain. I think it's a problem with the wiper arm.
My family owns a truck accessory business and I heavily believe in bug shields. I think that they protect the hood more than the windshield. I wouldn't go too long without one.
Well worth it bug shields. they also double as rock deflectors
ours on my wifes exped shattered when a golf ball size rock
jumped off the road and hit it so 50$ for the shield or 500$
for the windshield and maby a hood dent to boot, cheap investment.
id liek to see a sheilf that can deflect a rock this big, as im on my third window i would pay a couple hundred for a deflector liek this....
It was a lund bug deflector shield whatever you want to call it and
truely it deflected a golf ball size rock, of course as i said it shattered the deflector and im very sure it saved her windshield
from certain damage and the hood.
For all you deflector users, how do you clean the crap that collects under the backside of the shield? I had one on my old '92 which I removed 'cause it was really building up crud under the backside. It was screwed on and I had to keep removing it and cleaning up the collected crud. I can see it all turning to rust in time if it wasn't cleaned out. Those that use "sticky tape" to install it can't pull it off to clean behind it.
