I have heard from a couple of front end techs that poly is the way to go for performance but they sqweak. Not sure if it is true but I am getting ready to put some on my fox mustang.
No, I have them and they dont squeak. I must mention that the axle pivot bushings did come with some special grease to put between the metal pivot tube and the Poly
I've heard it depends. In general...Poly is better, however for body mounts I've been told rubber is better to stick with because it transmits less energy through to the cab then poly. Poly is more firm and doesn't absorb as much, no give you know?
xxx, i got my kit which was a complete suspension rebuild kit from performancesuspensiondotcom out of arizona i think. it cost 219 shipped to the door. it had everything.
Where do you get polyurethane bushing kits for our trucks?
I got some poly's through Summit but didn't come with any hardware which puts you making the sleeved washers and such. I orded a kit from LMCtruck and waiting for them to come in and they include the hardware but they are rubber. If the hardware is stock, I'll keep the poly's from Summit and use the hardware from LMC. It'll run me about $160 if I do that.
I got mine from Harry's auto & truck Acc. in grand prairie Tx. And you can just order the ones you need not the whole kit, cheaper than summit and Jc whitney. I think you can check them out at www.harrysautotruck.com
the poly bushings transferr alot of road "feel" through your steering, which isn't really all that bad if you are running a good size sidewall on your tires. I got mine through suspensionconnection.com I paid like $60 for the front suspension bushings and I think it was going to be like another $70 for the rears. I am going to lower my truck, so I may end up not using the poly bushings anyway, as the new suspension components will have poly pre pressed in....we'll see
Be warned if you do the front the oval bushing that goes from the arm between the frame only fits in one direction! You put the bushing in then force the metal sleeve in. When I got my set from Harry's It was around $60.00 for the front but the metal bushings come with it, the I beam bushings you have to reuse the big washers so look before you remove they are different front to back.
I ordered bushings 3 times from three different companies. The first ones were the wrong year, don't know what happened there. The second were poly bushings but no hardware so I kept them but ordered a set from LMC. I knew these would be rubber but I wanted to see what they would be like. They were just too soft but I got ideas from the diagrams in that package. I ended up keeping the poly ones from a company in California and making my own hardware with some 1/2 inch galvanized pipe and couplings, 18 gauge sheet metal for the big washers, and some 9/16 bolts of various lengths, flat washers, lock washers, and lock nuts. It worked out perfectly. She's on the road now and rides like a dream. I used to be able to tell how fast I was going by how bad the shaking was. Not any more. When I do the power steering conversion, I'll replace all the steering bushing with poly, too. Can't wait.
