I just installed a set of manual gauges in my 93 F-150 (5.0L) auto. I was wondering what was the "Red Line" temp for the truck? The point where it over heats. Also what is normal oil pressure and what should be the max? I installed the gauge because my stock set wasent even at the N of normal. But the real manual gauge is showing 190-195 range with is what it should be. Peace of mind with real gauges.
Oil pressure is dependant on a number of things such as mileage on the motor, weight of oil in the crankcase, health of the oil pump, ambient and underhood temperatures etc. etc. This is my opinion only and YMMV - based on my experience with the manual guage in my 5.0 with 10W-30 in the sump. Cold start up pressure = 60lbs. Hot idle = 15 to 20lbs. Highway cruising speeds, hot, = 35 to 45lbs depending on speed/RPM's.
As far as your temperature guage is concerned I do not know what the "red line" or max temperature would be. If the guage starts to climb past the 195 mark, assuming you have a 195 degree t-stat, I would start to keep an eye on it. If it does not fall shortly after passing the 195 mark (t-stat has opened), or if it continues to climb, I would start to get nervous. I'm sure that someone else will post with the exact temperatures for you.
