i was in need of a new engine for my car and i came upon a 302 motor that has roller lifters in it. so i looked up the casting #'s and it seems to be out of a truck. so thats why i am here. First off, will this motor take the stock parts off of a carb motor? (manifold, water pump, etc.) and is this a roller motor? i am going to rebuild it no matter what, I just need to know what parts to order when I go to order them. do i need a roller cam or can i get a stock cam for a 65 falcon? and what cam will the roller lifters work with? as you can tell i know nothing about the "small block" Ford engines, i like the FE's. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks, Chad
go to barnes and noble an get the smallblock fords performance book. it will give you all the in's & out's. you would have to use the timing cover off your old 302 along with your intake and of course change out dizzy . i would call compcam about what cam to run in your setup dont run a used cam.
i wasn't i'm just trying to figure this thing out. as i inspected the block more i found that the bottom of the #8 cylinder wall has been broken. i call the machine shop and told him and he said he could put in a sleeve or he may be able to "cut out" the bottoms of the cylinder like he would if i were putting in a stroker crank. i know this can be done with a chevy to make a 383, but i have never heard of it being done to a ford. is this possible because if it is I may go build a stroker. so once again thanks for all the help. Chad
