If you do 3,000 mile/3 month OCI's then really any major name brand oil will do fine, including Castrol GTX, though Castrol GTX is more expensive than most comparable oils. I've used for many years in the past. But I never did any oil analysis to see how it was performing in my various engines. I think that once you go longer than 3,000 mile OCI's the Castrol GTX does not hold up as well as some other dino oils costing less. As I recall in reading UOA's the Castrol GTX seems to shear out of it original viscosity fairly rapidly. As other's have said, check over on www.bobistheoilguy.com . They have a wealth of information about oil and lubricants.

Whimsey,
Which dino oil's hold up better than the Castrol GTX? Any thought on Mobile 5000 conventional?
