Forget straight pipes. Get a good quality after market system from somebody like Edelbrock. Exaust systems with an EFI motor can be very tricky. The most common mistake people make is to think that bigger is better. Its very easy to make the pipes too big and end up with worse performance.

I was just curious if a flowmaster or whatever would give the engine better mpg or hp. I have straight pipes behind the convertor, and havent had a single problem yet. I love em actually, just noisy enough, I just saw on TNN that FlowMaster had a muffler that seposidly(sp?) got better mileage and performance than others. So does that mean that straights get better than a flowmaster? By the way I have 2 1/4" pipes(perfect)
Well I can tell you from personal experience that my Flowmaster 50 series muffler with 3" exhaust on my '92 5.0L has much quicker acceleration than it did with the puny factory pipe and 2 cats.

I noticed a difference from the factory too. And better gas mileage.
