Engine swap

Hello, am looking at buying a 96 explorer with a cooked engine. I have a 4.0 from a 91 aerostar. Does anyone know if it will fit, had any experience with this or where I can find more info? Thanx very much in advance.

Yes they are the same block.

JTHill did a pretty good write up about yanking it out here.

'96 and '91 4.0L are not interchangeable. They will bolt up and fit nicely, but the calibration curves for the PCM are different.
