Don't throw anything away. California smog law states that while our older vehicles are no longer required to be smog tested, they still are required to have all the smog equipment on them that came from the factory. They are not exempt from smog laws, just exempt from testing.
Now of course you can do what you want. But if you ever decide to sell your truck all the orginal smog equipment must be in place. FYI
don't worry about it. who cares if i sell mine no one is going to make sure all the smog stuff is there because no one in their right mind would want it there.
I just hope some smell good hippie doen't get elected gov of California and start up the yearly checks again. Don't get me wrong, I like clean air. Would hate to go junkyardin to re-find all the kinda crud I pulled off. My heads don't have smog injection rales either....
Someone sold me a 73 Ford truck, that didn't have to be inspected or anything of any kind. I took the papers to DMV and they automatically gave me the new stickers. I don't think those old trucks even have inspections of any kind. My truck doesn't even have a diagram under the hood for the engine, so how would they know if it has EGR or not? It's too old to be in the computer even, probably! Anyway just my $0.02.
