And No the depth comes from the exhuast tubing. But a 5" on a 300 is WAY to big. So you can get a 5" tip and get the same sound as a 5" exhaust if the tip is long enough

Do you still have the stock intake and exhaust manifolds on your truck? I'm trying to decide what kind of exhaust to run on mine. I would like it to sound like you described yours. I will be using EFI manifolds, though.
My friend with the 84 ford is thinking of chainging his setup again, this time a 5" stack in the bed. That damn thing is amazing I drove it today, had it in granny gear and tromped on it and that damn thing went sideways. What a fun old truck.
This is actually kind of sad on my part but i somhow got the 300 sound out of my 400 Dodge. I can't quite figure this but it has a single 3" now, I just welded a short spiral ting into it to spin the exhaust and now it sounds like a 300. Everyne asks if I have a slant in it now. Now for the polished stainless 6x24" tip that the one shop made up.
