Hey everybody. Need some help finding a part for my '93 Ranger. My center console doesnt latch anymore and i'd like to know if anyone has one? The new one's are like $300, and the junkyards want at least $100. Mine's gray, but any color will do really. I just want it to work. Lemme know if you have one maybe, or If you know someone parting out a truck or something. Thanks
That was a design flaw - IMO - and the same thing happened to my 94 years ago. If someone sits on the center console - it can push the plastic latch down so hard that it snaps. I tried glue then epoxy - never would stay. Finally I got a extra-long tie-wrap - and that now holds it closed and doesn't look too terribly ugly.
I imagine that my ex-wife - who got the truck in the divorce years ago - still uses it that way.
You might want to think about replacing it with an Explorer console.
There are a couple of websites where guys have cut the foam out of the driver's seat and put an Explorer center console in it's place.
Take a look here and look for the 60/40 seat mod: http://www.martysrcboats.com/ranger.htm
Personally, if I were looking at spending that kind of money on replacing my center console, I would go for this mod.
