Go to advance or whoever your local parts america dealer, and get the bendix titanium metallic pads. They run ~$35 around here and have a lifetime warranty that covers normal wear. No dust, and quiet too.
Everyone is going to have an opinion on this one , heres mine , I service a fleet of squad cars and we have had the best luck with Performance Friction brand ,carbon metallic pads, we've been getting the best wear and least noise with these.
I used the Performance Friction Carbon Metalic pads on my van for several years and liked them. However, I just switched to the Carquest ceramic pads and love them as well. One thing I hated about the Carbon Metalic pads are they make a lot of black dust and are hard on the rotors. The ceramic pads make virtually no dust and are much easier on the rotors.
I have experience with both the Performance Friction and the Bendix ceramic pads, albeit on much lighter vehicles. The PFs are great but dusty, and on a sub 3000 lb. car would last 60K or longer of abusive driving. The ceramics (also on a a sub 3K lb. car) are great - excellent feel, minimal dust, and so far, very easy on the rotors.
Of course, on the race car I just switched from Hawks (great, but rotor eaters and impossible to modulate) to Carbotechs and love 'em. Too bad they don't make a reasonable street pad for my 6800 lb. van...
Sure- mileage is good thing, and lots of dust I could do with out. But what I really want is control and great stoping performance. Are any of the afore mentioned brands any better in this reguard?

Hard to beat the trick ceramic pads for control, stopping power and fad resistance. Also, virtually no dust. My Carquests (made by the makers of Raybestos) so far have been faultless. I use the van primarily for towing my racecar.

Carbotechs are the ticket man! I have had Carbotechs on my racecar for years and love them. You're right about the Hawks. The eat rotors like crazy and the carbotechs are pretty much harmless.
